Craig Edgar Photography

I've been a photographer since 2003 and don't consider myself "professional" by any stretch of the imagination. Although I would like to be a full time Professional Photographer I simply can't make a living out of it while I live in a small town with a limited number of people and therefore a limited number of opportunities.

My Studio is small and has all the right equipment but being the only qualified computer guy (programmer / fixer / etc.) in town means that time is an issue for me.

People are my preferred subject, particularly Maternity Portraits, and I really get a lot out of photographing beautiful people using Black & White techniques to create something that is artistic rather than bordering on porn.

I plan to spend more time creating "Limited Edition Prints" which are unusual and unique so that long after I'm dead people everywhere will remember me.

I'm not influenced by any particular photographer or style and tend to just go with the flow. I rarely have a plan when I set out on a photographic adventure. I generally get my studio ready, stand the model up in front of me and decide on the spot what we are going to do and what we want to end up with. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - but you don't know unless you try.

Colour photography is great for capturing a moment so that in years to come you can look back and reminisce, but Black & White creates atmosphere and character. A Black & White photograph is more likely to trigger an emotion or make you stop and think about what you're looking at for a moment. There is a certain amount of mystery associated with Black & White Photography.
